Dr. Epstein is appointed Co-Chair to
the Colorado Medical Society Continuing Medical Education
Committee
Dr. Epstein wears many hats and
has been active in organized medicine throughout her career.
Her leadership skills, physician advocacy, expertise and
participation in continuing medical education has recently
been of benefit to the Colorado Medical Society. In her role
as 2011 Co-chair of the Continuing Medical Education
Committee along with Michael Pramenko, MD (2011 CMS
President) and several committee members, she is actively
involved in obtaining accreditation for the CMS as an ACCME
provider.

County Medical Society Delegate and is appointed to the
Colorado Medical Society Constitution & Bylaws Committee
The 2010 Annual Meeting of the
House of Delegates of the Colorado Medical Society Meeting
was held at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa and Conference
Center in Vail, CO, September 9-12, 2010. Dr. Epstein,
served as a Delegate and participated in ongoing policy
making and business conducted by the largest physician
organization in Colorado. In addition, Dr. Epstein has been
appointed to the CMS CME Committee and to the BCMS Executive
Committee.

Silver Medal
At the last International
Neurosurgical meeting in Mexico City, XIX Congreso
Mexicano de Cirugia Neurologica, Dr. Epstein was honored
as an invited international quest speaker and lecturer. Dr.
Rogelio Revuelta, president of the Mexican Congress of
Neurological Surgeons, presented Dr. Epstein with an
engraved silver medal in appreciation of her contributions.

Increasing Latin@ Presence in the Medical Field
Over the years, ¿Qué Pasa, OSU? has served as the vehicle to
learn more about people and stories that deserve
acknowledgment and recognition. Several months ago, we
learned about Dr. Clara Epstein; a neurosurgeon, Clinical
Instructor and House Staff Physician in the Department of
Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical
Center. Epstein is internationally recognized in her
professional field and also has a leadership role in
promoting cultural awareness and increasing access to
Latin@s in their medical career. Epstein’s experience
includes two clinical post-graduate fellowships in Stroke
and Cerebrovascular Disorders, and in Clinical Stereotactic
Radiosurgery/Neurosurgery. She has authored numerous
scientific papers and professional publications and has held
various leadership positions in national and international
organizations aimed at the betterment and development of
neurosurgery and, more specifically, of Latin@ women in the
field.
